18 Months!

Holy moly, just like that our Tuck is a year and a half old! How can he possibly be turning two in just 6 short months?

Weight: 31 lbs 7oz (99th percentile)
Height: 33.25" (75th percentile)
Head Circumference: 20.47" (>99th percentile; he still has big ol' noggin!)

Tuck has been letting his feelings show lately, and some of those feelings aren't so great. I feel the terrible two's coming on early with this one. He is fierce in his desire to be just like his siblings, and you better believe if you leave him out, or he doesn't get his way, he will show you his screaming side. It's been tough with cutting molars too; yikes!
He is insistent on wearing his backpack just like his siblings. It can be quite the throw down trying to make him take it off.

On the opposite side of that, if he is in a good mood he is the cutest and silliest little guy you've ever met! He loves to dance, to 'read' books to himself, and eat pretty much anything in sight! I keep waiting for him to become a picky eater like his siblings, and while I'm sure it will happen eventually, he sure has lasted longer than his siblings!

Our poor guy has eczema like you wouldn't believe. It's been an uphill battle, with lots of different approaches in how best to treat and prevent it, but so far nothing is a real winner. He gets his biggest flairs up on his stomach, and then his legs. He doesn't seem to be too bothered by it, but I'm sure it can't be comfortable. We just recently got prescription strength cortisone cream from the doctor; it seems to be helping if we keep on top of it everyday.

In the past few weeks we've notice a few more words here and there that Tucker seems to be mastering. Some are more easily understandable than others, but we have consistently heard "Up, apple, thank you, mama, dada, bubba, sissy, again, cup, and uh-oh". He also signs 'all done', 'more', and 'please'.

He's a bit of a daredevil and climber. I've found him countless times on top of the table or climbing up on a chair to get to something he wants when I turn my back for a split second. He also loves to go fast! He wasn't the biggest fan of playing in the snow, but boy was he happy to be sledding down our very steep driveway. He also conquered numerous inflatable slides at JJ Jump by himself; slides that I felt like I was flying down!

Love you sweet guy!
I can't believe in a few short months we are going to have a 2 year old!

Halloween Fun!

October was cold and rainy, and we ended up not making it to the pumpkin patch until 2 days before Halloween! Both Claire and Hunter had already been to the pumpkin patch with school, so I didn't feel that bad about it ;)

We do a annual bench picture, and of course this was about the best I could get of the three of them...
These two however, were much more obliging with their smiles for their first annual bench picture!

Drew was gone hunting that weekend, but the kids and I got brave and I decided to actually let them carve their pumpkins instead of just painting them. Hunter needed lots of help, but Claire designed and carved hers all on her own.

She told me "It's a unicorn, moon, and stars pumpkin"

Three little cuties on halloween! Lady bug girl (Claire's favorite book right now) an astronaut, and the cutest pirate you have even seen.

Our friends the Stagers came over again this year, and our friends the Pike's got to come too. We had quite the adorable little crew out trick or treating that night! Everyone did so good, and the rain held off, thank goodness!

First Day of School!

This was a big year for us for school!
Claire started kindergarten (full day) and Hunter started 2 day a week preschool!

Everyone told me that kindergarten was hard as a parent, and I naively thought that wouldn't apply to me. Claire had always loved preschool and did very well; she was so excited to start kindergarten and I love seeing her excitement to learn. All this to say, I didn't think I would have much of a hard time letting her go off to kindergarten.

Fast forward to the first day of school....I was a mess! I held it together until after drop off, but holy cow I was an emotional wreck! I couldn't believe I was just leaving my baby to go to school ALL DAY, with people I barely knew!
She came home and was full of excitement about school, and new friends, and her teacher, which helped ease some of my worries, but it still took me a good couple weeks to really feel more at ease with her being gone all day.

Hunter's preschool (the same one Claire attended) starts a week after the rest of the school district, and oh man, let me tell you, that was a rough week for him! Getting to see his sister go off to school everyday while he was stuck at home was hard! Finally the day came and he got to go off to school!
It was a little weird dropping him off at school, but I have to say, it was great to have a little peace and quiet ;) He is loving school and still gets so excited to go every week.

You might not be able to tell by the pictures, but he was a tiny bit excited about it.

My big kids, off to school!

1st Birthday Party: Books!

One of Tuckers favorite things to do is read books; we don't even have to read them, he is just so enthralled with the pictures. He can often be found sitting by himself, happily flipping through board books. He is even more happy to bring us a book and back his little booty up into our laps before he plops down and declares it book time! It seemed like a no brainer to incorporate his love of books into his party!

It took a little while for him to warm up, but man once he did, he gobbled that cake up! He actually ate almost the entire thing; yikes!
A bath was a must after all that cake! A sink bath, and a squeaky clean birthday boy!
Happy Birthday sweet boy!

12 Months!

Oh my goodness, this is so late! I had this post sitting in my drafts since before August and apparently never actually finished it; oops!

And just like that, our last baby turned 1! I have to say, of all the kids, I think Tucker's first year went the fastest of them all.

Weight: 25lbs 2 oz (93rd percentile)
Height: 30.25" (67th percentile)
Head Circumference: 49.5 cm (>99th percentile)

Tuck is cruising everywhere! Not officially walking yet, pulling himself to standing and cruising on everything. He is pretty determined to be keeping up with the big kids!

Tuck went on his first camping trip this month! Our bi-annual family camp out landed in July this year, and we all packed up and drove to Prineville. Tuck did pretty well considering how little sleep the kids always seem to get on camping trips.

Our little 'helper' is always playing at the dishwasher! He is quick too! There have been a few times where he ran right over and snatched a knife out before I could get to him; dangerous little stinker!
We've been enjoying our summer days with friends and playing outside as much as possible! Him and Colette are huge fans of the swing! He has actually thrown a couple fits if I take him out before he has deemed swinging time over.
Tucker we love you so much! How are you already 1?? What a wonderful first year we've had with you. You are the perfect addition to our family; your siblings adore you and you are always making us smile and laugh. We love you!

11 months!

11 months! How is this little guy going to be one in less than a month?
The past month was a big one for our little guy, with lots of accomplishments, and the discovering of his new found attitude.

Weight: 24 lbs
Height: 29"
Wearing size 5 diapers and 18/24 month clothing

Tuck had his first strawberry picking trip this month; sadly it ended in lots of tears after he also got his first bee sting. Poor guy was sitting on a blanket next to me, and from what I can tell, he grabbed a bee that landed on his blanket and it stung his little pinky. He cried so hard and so long, we finally had to leave. The only way to get him to stop crying was shoveling strawberries in his mouth; see evidence below ;)

Our new (and only) party trick this month is waving! It's the cutest thing, and triggered almost anytime someone says "hi". Often times he starts waving as soon as we pull him out of the carseat, and continues all through the parking lot :)

Tucker started crawling this month! He has been the slowest of all our kids to start crawling, which I was actually super okay with since  I knew life would get MUCH harder once he started. Now that he's mobile, he's into everything and loves to be 'helpful'
We took our first trip to sisters with our friends the Stagers, and Tuck did his first hike. It was such a fun weekend of playing with friends and letting the kids explore the outdoors.

Tucker also had his first trip to the beach this month too! We took an impromptu trip to the beach one Sunday and the weather was perfect! I wasn't sure how Tucker would do with the sand, but other than trying to eat a few mouthfuls, he did great!

Happy 11 months sweet boy! You are such a joy, always smiling and loving on everyone around you.
