2011: Our Year in Pictures

Right now I am working part time for a merchandising company, where I work with a lot of magazines and books. Now that we're at the end of the year I've been seeing a lot of "The Year in Pictures" magazines appearing. I thought it would be fun to reminisce on our year with pictures too!

Warning: Until June (aka Claire time) most of the pictures are pretty boring!

6 Months!

My sweet girl turned 6 months old on Christmas!
I am in shock that it has been half a year already. I feel like it was just yesterday that I brought her home from the hospital.

She had her 6 month check up appointment today; here are her stats:
Weight: 19 lbs 5 oz (95th percentile)
Height: 29" (100th percentile)
Head Circumference: 17.5" (90th percentile)

Here are some happenings this month:

-Claire started eating solid food. She's not a huge fan of vegetables so I usually have to mix those in with a little bit of fruit. She LOVES prunes and bananas.

-She's growing like crazy! She's now in 9 months onsies and pants, and is actually starting to wear her 12 month pajamas. Her feet are also huge; she's now in a size 3.

-Claire has discovered herself in the mirror, and boy does she love herself! She gets so excited when she sees herself. The other day I put her in her swing while I was packing to leave for the weekend and she saw herself in the mirror of the mobile. Here is her reaction:

-Sleeping is a big issue this month. Claire's new favorite trick is to roll from her back to her stomach. The only problem is she wont roll back, so she gets stuck and gets upset. We finally bought a sleep positioner to keep her from rolling, but then she learned how to roll over in place. We are getting up anywhere between 3 to 8 times a night just to roll her back over and give her the pacifier. I'm really hoping this stage ends soon!

-We're working on sitting alone. She usually does okay for 10-30 seconds but starts to fall to either side.

-She eats about 6 oz of formula every 3.5-4 hours. Until a few days ago she was eating soilds once a day, right after her first morning nap. We've started feeding her a second time right after her last nap of the day.

-Claire loves loves loves her jumparoo. It's so funny to watch her get excited and start jumping like crazy!

And here she is a few more times, just because I think she's adorable :)

For Christmas this year we headed to Gresham to spend the holiday with my side of the family. I was super excited to see Claire's reaction to her first Christmas, even though I knew she would probably have no idea what was going on :)

We actually started on Saturday (Christmas Eve day) with my mom's side of the family. Everyone came over to my parents house around 11:00 am. We hung out, ate lots of yummy food, and exchanged gifts together. Claire was little overwhelmed with so many people (and a little over tired too!) but she definitely entertained everyone with her jumping skills and her cute smiles.

Great Grandma and Great Grandpa get everyone Christmas socks every year. Claire got her first pair! Apparently she thought they were pretty tasty.
Claire and her second cousin Dayna

My mom told Dayna she could give Tanner a carrot, and in turn her never left her side while she had food.

All tuckered out. It's hard being a dog.

Claire was really great at eating everyones presents. Hopefully no one minded a little extra slobber with their gifts :)

At 4:00 pm we headed over to my grandparents house for Christmas with my dad's side of the family. Claire was so cranky! She had been up for way to long, and only slept for about 20 minutes in the car on the way over. We tried multiple times to get her to nap, but she was having nothing to do with it. I think she knew she would miss the party! We ate even more food, and opened even more gifts! Claire is one spoiled little girl. Also during this time we realized we forgot to pack a bottle in our diaper bag in the rush to get out the door. (Yes, I know, I am terrible. How do you forget the bottle?!) So Claire ended up drinking some formula from a solo cup. Classy, I know. Needless to say we had to leave pretty quick after presents since we had one hungry and tired little girl!

Claire and Great Aunt Shelly.
(This is one of the only pictures we really got of her Christmas dress I made her. I might have to make her get dressed in it again and take some more pictures!)

Josie, Claire, and Great Aunt Shelly.

Christmas morning Claire woke up around 6:00 am. I heard her on the monitor and went to bring her into bed with me to sleep, and when I walked upstairs my whole family was already awake and in the living room! I must have been to sleep deprived to notice them on the way down haha! We went ahead and just got up since Claire didn't really have any interest in going back to sleep anyways. We ate my moms amazing carmel nut rolls ( a Christmas tradition), and opened presents and stockings together. Claire took a nap somewhere in there too. It was such a nice, relaxing time.
Getting some Christmas cuddles with Grandma.

First present of Christmas morning

Uncle Jared picked her out the cutest pink carhartt overalls for Christmas!

She was pretty excited about my new food processor. Maybe she knows its how mommy makes her yummy food!

After Claire got up we all got dressed and went to church for Christmas service. We came home after church, took some naps, and hung out for a while. Claire thoroughly enjoyed playing with all her new toys!
Christmas evening we had a delicious dinner of pork tenderloin from the barbecue, homemade rolls, waldorf salad and twice baked potatoes. Oh. my. gosh. It makes me hungry just thinking about it.

All in all, a wonderful, busy Christmas with lots of family and lots of love. Claire was spoiled like crazy, and we were blessed to be able to spend time with family.
