11 Months!

Tell me it isn't so! One more month and my sweet baby will be 1!

-This month Claire all of sudden became very interested in talking. Don't get me wrong, this girl blabs up a storm, but this month brought some real words! Here is what we can make out so far: mama, dada, dog, book, and sometimes a slightly slurred version of 'done'. Daddy was reading her "The Wonderful Sounds Mr. Brown Can Do", and we were surprised to find her repeating "boom, boom" back to us when we read the lightning page.

-Claire made the 2nd move of her lift this month. Poor girl, not even one and she's already moved twice! Hopefully this one will last a little longer.

-More teeth finally made their appearance. We wondered if maybe she was destined to only have her bottom two until after her 1st birthday, but we were surprised to find four teeth come through within a week and half! Oh yes you read that right, 4 teeth in a little over a week. Needless to say it was a long couple nights of teething, but we made it through.

-We've been weaning off bottles in anticipation of Claire starting whole milk at a year, and we are now down to just one bottle before bed, and sippy cups for the rest of the meals.

-Claire is wearing size 18 month (some 24 month) clothing and just moved up to size 5 diapers this week.
A little birthday party outfit preview. I was trying to get a picture for her invite, but she was not having it.

-She loves cruising along the furniture but is still pretty reluctant to attempt steps without our hands.

Still Alive

We're still alive over here, we're just busy repainting, hanging curtains, and digging through boxes. If I can dig my camera out of a box somewhere I'll have an 11 month update and pictures of the new place soon!

Mothers Day 2012

We were at Fred Meyer checking out, the day before Mother's Day, and the lady in front of me was very pregnant. She told the cashier she had about a month left, it's funny to think that last year that was me! Hugely pregnant, uncomfortable, and anxiously waiting to become a mother.

This year was my first official Mothers Day. Claire decided to get up around 5:00 am but being the nice husband that he is, Drew let me sleep in till 7:15 or so. I know what your thinking; 7:15 am is sleeping in?! Unfortunately with Claire, that is considered sleeping in.

Drew and Claire went and bought donuts and orange juice for breakfast, since all of our kitchen stuff is packed in boxes right now! They gave me the sweetest card, some sour patch straws (yum!) and a new Kindle! A while I ago I posted a link to Kelle Hampton's blog, where she shares the birth story of her daughter Nella, who was unexpectedly born with down syndrome. I've been following her blog ever since and she just released a book, Bloom, about her journey. Drew bought me her book and had it loaded and ready to read. What a sweet man :)

Later in the day we had a little Mother's Day/ Going away barbecue with our friends The Bartletts, The Lee's, The Hammagren's, and The Bates. I cannot even begin to tell you what an amazing support system these women have been. Through being pregnant and becoming mother's together, it's been quite the ride!
This isn't from this weekend, but it's hard to get a picture with that many babies squirming around!

We had such a great time enjoying the sun and letting the kids run around and play.

Emily and Axle-The Twins!

Swinging with Luke!

Thanks for cooking Brandon!

It was hot outside!

Thanks to my hubby and sweet girl for an amazing first mothers day, and to my mommy friends for being such a great support system!

Oh and let's not forget my amazing mother. The worlds best mom and grandma.

Show Us Your Life: New Mom's

Kelly, from Kelly's Korner does a series every Friday called "Show us your life" (SUYL), with a new theme each week. This week is all about new mom's, either pregnant or with little ones under 1 years old. If your stopping by from Kelly's Korner, then welcome!
I'm Ashleigh and I'm a new mom to my sweet little (almost) 11 month old Claire. You can read her birth story {here}
Just about to leave the hospital

I knew my entire life that I wanted to be a mom, but I know now that nothing can really prepare you for the immense amount of joy and love having a child can bring to your life. I won't lie and tell you that it is all sunshine and butterflies all the time, but even after the hardest days with Claire, when I go to tuck my sweet babe into bed all the frustrations and fatigue of the day instantly melt away.

Here are my top 10 mommy thoughts (in no particular order) from the past 11 months:

1) I never knew how heartbreaking and funny these little faces could be:

2) I never realized that I could love my husband even more than I already did. Seeing him step into the role of being a father has been amazing.

3) Consider packing yourself an extra outfit as well as one for your baby. I learned this the hard way.

4) Breastfeeding is ALOT harder than it looks.

5) You will take a 5 minute video of your baby playing or cooing and will never tire of watching it, because to you, your baby is always the most amazing/talented baby in the world!

6) Having a group of mommy friends is one of the best support systems in the world. I can't tell you how many times we text each other to compare what our kids are doing or to ask for advice. These women are wonderful!

7) Dressing a baby girl is so much fun! I have become obsessed with hair bows and flowers since Claire came along :)

8) Don't compare yourself, or your mothering to other moms. Each family parents the way that they know is best for their child. It was so easy for me to judge the way other parents did things before I became a parent myself. Parenting has really taught me grace and humility.

9) Each day is a brand new adventure, so hold on tight!

10) Babies sleep in the strangest positons. But sleep is sleep so take what you can get!

My current obsession:

I mean seriously, how freaking cute would Claire be on this thing?!

Dancing Queen

Claire has really been movin and groovin lately.
Usually she only likes to dance to music without any lyrics, but she makes an exception when it comes to the Muppets soundtrack.

I caught her the other day shaking her booty to "We built this city". Her seriousness just cracks me up!

*sorry the video is sideways! I can't figure out how/ if I can turn it!*
