5 Weeks and 9 Weeks

Yep, you read that right.
5 weeks and 9 weeks.

I wish I could say I just skipped weeks 6,7, and 8 but unfortunately I didn't. I was throwing up my guts and waiting for my body to adjust to the Zofran.

Some days are better than others, but I'm slowly starting to adjust to the medicine, and although I feel nauseous all the time, I'm able to keep food down and take care of Claire.

So here is week 5, the calm before the storm of sickness.

Pumpkin Patch

I'm only a week and half late posting these pictures, but here is proof that we did make it to the pumpkin patch!
We were running out of time before Halloween, so we ended up having to squeeze it on a Saturday that was raining. Luckily we caught a small break in the rain and it only slightly drizzled on us once. My mom was even able to meet us and enjoy the pumpkin patch too!

Of course every good trip starts with a pre pumpkin picking snack of applesauce

Children's Museum

On Thursday I was determined to get out of the house! My body has started to adjust a little more to the zofran and morning sickness, so I thought we might be safe to get out and do something fun.
We met up with my friend Aleah and her little  boy Max and went to the Portland Children's Museum.
I totally remember going when I was little and we've been there a few times in the past few years with friends and family, and I could not wait to take Claire! She is so curious and such a busy body that I knew she would love it.

Our first stop was story time, which I didn't think Claire would be too interested in, but come to find out, it was mostly just music, and Claire was ready to dance!

Then we moved on to the transportation station. Claire did not want to leave this bus! There were too many cool buttons and knobs to play with, which unfortunately led to me having to climb through a very small child size opening to get her out.

Claire loves dogs.
I mean really loves them.
If she sees a dog on the street, a commercial  or in a book she starts barking. Luckily for her there was a vet station at the museum and she was in heaven with all the stuffed dogs to pet and bark at.

Someone was hiding in the kennels!
Shampooing her dog

We saved the water station for last for obvious reasons.
This girl loves water almost as much as she loves dogs. She's been known to stick her hand in a cup of water and be perfectly entertained for a good 15 minutes.
Thankfully there were waterproof smocks because Claire splished and splashed and even dumped a full watering can of water on her face.

After she was sufficiently soaked, we were getting dangerously close to nap time (for mommy and Claire!), so we pried ourselves away and drove home. Thankfully we have a membership, so we'll be back to play again soon :)

Last camping trip

A few weekends ago we drove up to Mary Hill Campground in Washington to camp with my parents and some family friends while the boys went deer hunting. We had great weather; I don't think I've been camping where it was too hot to sleep in the sleeping bag at night!

Claire loves being outside, which means I didn't have to bother packing toys. She had to much fun playing with rocks, and chasing around the older kids.

I was busy chasing Claire and feeling ill from morning sickness, so I only managed to snap a few pictures with my phone:

Drew took this on their first morning out.

Loving the rocks! She filled cups and water bottles with them all weekend. She was one filthy little girl by the end of each day.

Playing iphone games with Lauren.

Next time...

When I posted {this} the other day, I thought it was the worst it was going to be.
When I was pregnant with Claire I only threw up once or twice and felt nauseous for about a month, but I was able to eat some plain pita bread and drink sprite to keep it at bay.

Well I have decided to write this so next time I think about being pregnant I can read this and remember how stinking miserable I was.

Friday morning I woke up and felt like I was about to pass out. I hadn't eaten much the night before, so I figured if I got up and ate something it would help. Well I didn't make it far before I knew it was more than just some hunger pains.
Long story short I threw up four times in about 3 hours; that awful 'I'm so dizzy and hot, I know this wont end well' throwing up.
I tried eating a few small things in between but nothing (not even water) would stay down.  I asked Drew to call my mom and see if she could come help with Claire. Thankfully she has Friday's off and was willing to come over and help with Claire. I called the OB advice line and they told me I should go on zofran so I wouldn't become dehydrated etc...
Drew went and picked up my prescription, since there was no way I was getting out of bed. I kept thinking it would be the best relief, well unfortunately it didn't help the way I thought it would. It has helped with the vomiting but I'm still feeling pretty queasy and really dizzy. My amazing mother ran to the store and got stuff to make me a smoothie which I was able to keep down, along with some crackers.
Thanks mom, it was perfect!

Today I woke up with newfound optimism, and feeling better. Well it only lasted a little while before the medicine made me dizzy again.
Once again my wonderful parents swooped in and called Drew and offered to take Claire overnight until Sunday. Drew has to turn in his first thesis draft tomorrow, so this made for the worst weekend for me to get sick and be unable to help. So I've spent the day laying on the couch fighting off dizziness and trying to suck down a smoothie and stuff some pretzels in my mouth, while being incredibly grateful for my amazing family and their willingness to step in and help.

So there it is, my little note to myself, for the next time I see a baby and think "I want to be pregnant again!".

Feelin' Sick

Morning sickness has officially struck, though it seems to last all day. My meals have looked like this the past few days:
