18 Months!

Little miss Claire turned 18 months on Christmas!
I cannot believe how much she has grown and changed in the past 6 months. I feel like we were just having her first birthday party!

Pregnant with number 2 009

Height: 2 feet 11.75 inches (off the chart)
Weight: 25 lbs 5 oz (65th percentile)
We have a tall, skinny little girl! I was a little worried about her weight being low but the doctor said she isn't concerned at all. Claire also did really well on her developmental test and the doctor said she is well above where she would expect an 18 month old to be. Just had to be a bragging mama ;) The doctor also said she thought I could start potty training Claire if I wanted to, but I don't think I have the energy to do that right now, and Claire doesn't seem overly interested so I don't want to push anything.

Since it's been 6 months since her last update (oops!), I'll just hit on the major events.

-In September we found out Claire was going to be a big sister! We find out in a few days if this baby is going to be a brother or a sister and we are really excited. Drew and I both agree, we can't wait to see Claire be a big sister. She loves babies (both real and her baby dolls) so it will be fun to see her interact with her sibling.

-Claire switched to a 'big girl' bed about 2 months ago. We started off with just her crib converted into a toddler bed, and then after about a week she got a twin size bed. She LOVES it! She is actually really excited to go to bed every night and to be able to climb into her bed. Last week we had our first difficult few days of Claire getting out of bed during nap times, but now I think we are back to her staying in bed. She has been such a champ, and really impressed us with how well the transition went.
We have since gotten Claire blankets that actually fit her bed ;)

-Her favorite tv shows are Curious George and Super Why. When I was in the middle of my terrible morning sickness, I let her watch one show every morning while I tried to keep some breakfast down, and now she is obsessed; I think I've created a monster! Every morning when we go downstairs she grabs the remote and points it at the TV and asks for either 'George' or 'Superbye'. I think she's a little miffed I will only let her watch one episode a day haha

-Claire had her first major injury, which led to her first trip to the ER last month. Two stitches later and we were out of there, but needless to say, I'm hoping to not repeat the experience any time soon.

-Claire is talking up a storm! It's crazy how each week that goes by her words continue to get clearer and she keeps adding more. Here are a few of her most used words:
Car
Outside
Dog (and the sound)
Cat (and the sound)
George
Super Why
More
Go
Please
Thank You
Water
Juice
Apple
Apple Sauce
Carseat
Ball
Monkey (and the sound)
Cow (and the sound)
Mama
Daddy
Grandma
Grandpa
Light
Bright
Cup
Milk
Baby
Animal
Remote
Phone
Teeth
Elbow
Knee
Head
Eyes
Ear
Chin
Clothes
Shoes
Socks
Night Night
Paci
No
Uh-huh
Store
Tree
Color
Chair
Jump
Run
I know there are probably even more than those, but that's all I can think of off the top of my head. When she's in a good a mood, she'll repeat almost anything she hears. We're still working on stringing words together but there have a been a few times she has said "more water", or "more please", so I'm sure it will happen in no time!

-We've been on a one nap schedule since about 12 or 13 months. Claire's day typically looks like this:
Wake up around 6:45am or 7:00 am
Nap around 10 or 10:30 am and sleep about 2 hours
Bath time at 6:30 and bedtime at 7:00pm.

-Claire has 12 teeth- four on top, four on bottom, and four molars (two top and two bottom). I have a feeling we are in for more soon. cause every time I look over Claire has her hands in her mouth.

-We've hit the "do it myself stage" with Claire within the past few weeks. She wants to do everything on her own, which usually I don't mind letting her try for a while, but it has become an issue when we are trying to get something quickly. She wants to try and dress herself, and feed herself yogurt (which is quite the mess), but it's so fun to see her progress and get better at those tasks.
