Christmas 2012

I'm a little behind but it has been a crazy past few weeks!

Our Christmas started out on Saturday the 22nd and continued on until Christmas day. We were all ready for some rest by the end ;)

On Saturday we had the Arnold family Christmas. The original plan was for everyone to come to our house, but a few hours before the part, my poor mother in law came down with an awful stomach bug and proceeded to throw up for the next few hours. We decided to move the party to my sister in law and brother in laws house so mom could have some quiet time to rest.
We opened presents and did the traditional birthday cake for Jesus. I made a pecan cheesecake for the birthday cake this year, and I have to toot my own horn and say it was pretty delicious! I think the crust was a little thick which made it hard to cut into, but the flavor is so good.

We have to use Hanukkah candles so they don't melt before we get all the way around the circle!

On Sunday, after church, my mom's side of the family all gathered at my parents house to do our name draw gifts, presents, and my cousin's birthday celebration (she's a Christmas eve baby!). Claire was in a much better mood this day which made it even more fun. She started to really get the hang of opening gifts and helping pass them out to other people.

Thanks Wilson's for Claire's new book!

On Monday night (Christmas eve) we went over to celebrate and open gifts with my Dad's side the of the family. Claire loved that she had the older girls to follow around and dote on her. It was nice to be able to visit with adults and have Claire be happy and entertained too!
We accidentally left the camera in the car, so we don't have any pictures from this night :(

On Christmas we were able to stay home, just the three of us, for the first Christmas ever! Drew and I have been living in Corvallis since we got married, but now that we have Claire we thought it was important to start our own traditions are our own little family. It was so great to wake up in our own beds and go on our own schedule for the Christmas morning. Needless to say, Claire was an expert at opening gifts by this point, so she got right to work.

After Claire's nap we went over to my parents house to exchange presents with them and have Christmas dinner. As usual my parents made some amazing food and we had such a great time just having a nice low key evening together.

She loved these mega blocks that Uncle Jared got her! She is always asking to play with her "blocks".

We had such a great Christmas, and we are continually amazed at how blessed we are by our friends and family.
