Hunter's Room: Grey and Orange Chevron Nursery

Other than a few little details, Hunter's room is done!

It feels so good to have at least one room put back together and unpacked.
This room was by far the biggest pain to paint. I painted all of the trim, which was one coat of primer and two coats of paint, and because the walls were such a deep red to begin with, I had to paint all the walls with two coats of primer and two coats of paint! Needless to say, I took a little painting vacation after that.

I made Hunter's crib sheet, changing pad cover, and crib skirt from fabric that I found at fabric depot.
Since Hunter's room is on the smaller side I wanted to go with a light color to make the room feel bigger. I color matched the grey from his crib sheet, and when I found the orange polka dot rug at Ikea I decided that was going to be my accent color to help keeping the room from looking like a grey blob :)

The picture ledge is also from Ikea, and I added the collage from our newborn photographer, a teddy bear from great grandma and grandpa Wood, at the guest book plate from my baby shower.

And just for fun, a little before and after shot:

I am loving how much brighter it bigger if feels in the room now with the bright white trim and light grey on the walls.
Now if the rest of my house would just paint itself....

House Tour

Well we've been in our house about 3 weeks now, and I am finally getting a little house tour together.
I ran around and took pictures of all the rooms before we moved stuff in, but since Hunter was starting to scream, some of the pictures aren't the best quality ;)

Side story: As a housewarming present Hunter decided to blow out of his diaper when we first got to the house, which I of course didn't realize until after I held him against me. To make it even better, I didn't realize I had poop on my shirt as well until about 10 minutes after I had already changed him. Here's the kicker....I had no extra clothes for at least another hour. Awesome.

Here is the view as you walk in the front door

Immediately to your right is a formal living room, which at the moment is somewhat more of a play room since we don't have any furniture/ need for a formal living space.

As you keep walking down the hallway, right behind the formal living room is the kitchen and dining area.

To the left of the hallway, right across from the kitchen/ dining is the family room.

From the family room you can see two doors on the left, the first one is to the guest bathroom (which I forgot to take a picture of!) and the second one is to the guest bedroom/office.
What's really awesome is that there is actually another door in the bathroom that connects to the guest room, so essentially guests can close off the main door in the family room and have their own private bathroom when they come to visit. (You can see the door in the picture below)

And here's an opposite view; looking from the back door that leads out to the patio and yard, to the front door.

If you look up the stairs you'll see a doorway to the left, which is the master bedroom, and the closet at the top of the stairs is where the washer and dryer are.

To the right are both of the kids rooms and their bathroom. The red room is Hunter's and Claire's is to the right of that and the kids bathroom is to the left.

Here is Hunter's extremely red room (which is no longer red, thank goodness!). There is a window to the left in this picture.

This is Claire's room (which has also been repainted).

And last but not least is the master bedroom. The doorway to the right is the HUGE walk in closet, and the door to the left is the master bedroom.

We have been doing A LOT of painting and other little projects around here lately, and hopefully I'll get pictures of them soon! In the mean while we are thoroughly enjoying being in our new place!

2 Months!

Yet another month has flown by, and our "little" munchkin is getting so big!

No, really, he's big.

As in 16 lbs 11oz, big.
We may have a future line backer on our hands.

Here are Hunter's stats from his 2 month check up:

Weight: 16 lbs 11 oz (over the 100th percentile)
Height: 2' .5" (96th percentile)

-Wearing mostly 6 month clothing, although I still try and squeeze him in some 3 month clothes out of pure denial that he is growing so fast.

-Still LOVES bath time. He can be screaming his head off and as soon as he hits the water he is happy as can be,

-Also, still tolerating his sister like a champ. He's already a little over half her size, so I have a feeling once he's a little older he'll be able to put up a decent fight ;)

-Every night from about 7-9 is his crazy fussy period. It's awful!

-Hunter had another small case of thrush (his third time!) but thankfully we caught it early and got it all cleared up.

-His daytime schedule is all over the place nap wise, but nighttime is pretty consistent. Bath with sister at 6:30, drive mommy and daddy crazy with screaming from 7-9, then sleep from 9:00pm-2:30am, eat, and then awake again at 4am and usually again around 6am.

-His new favorite place to sit is in the high chair at an incline. You can almost guarantee a smile if he's in there!
