Impromptu Beach Trip

Every year our church does a church retreat over a weekend; we've gone in the past but we've found it to be tougher and tougher with young kids. We know someday we'll make it again, but this year it made for a good day to head to the beach since we didn't have church service.

We surprised the kids when they woke up with sand toys filled with snacks for the car, and packed up after a quick breakfast. They were so excited, and surprisingly everyone did really well on the car ride there!

Our first stop was at the Tillamook cheese factory. The kids loved the little Tillamook bus, and were actually pretty entertained watching the assembly line cut and package the cheese. And of course, a trip to Tillamook wouldn't be complete without ice cream, even it was 10:00 in the morning!

After our stop at Tillamook, we headed to Rockaway beach. It was amazing weather; sunny and not too windy! We got a spot next to a little creek that runs into the ocean, and the kids loved it! Hunter especially enjoyed himself, running up and down the beach and splashing in the creek. Of course the first time we talked down to the ocean he tripped over himself and belly flopped right into the water, so he ended up shirtless until we got back to the car.

Tuck may have eaten a *little* bit on sand while we were there. Oops!

We managed to get home without hitting any major traffic, and only a few minor meltdowns (what trip would be complete without a few of those)! The kids had such a great time, we've already talked about how we need to go back for the weekend so the kids can play even longer!

Hunter turns 3: A Firefighter Party

Hunter turned 3 last week, but we celebrated his birthday with his best friend Caleb a few weeks before that. It was so fun to have a joint birthday for those sweet little guys!

We rented out the party space at Wippersnappers (our local kids indoor gym) and let the kids run wild! Now I understand the amazing qualities of having a party outside your house; no stress and no clean up!

The boys both love fire trucks and firemen, so we put together some fun fire themed goody bags and cupcakes.

Happy Birthday Hunter! We love you!

Claire Graduates!

Our sweet girl graduated from preschool and is off to kindergarten in the fall! I truly cannot believe how fast times flies, and how much she has learned already. It's amazing to see the way her brain works, the subjects that interest her the most, and how naturally curious she is.

Right now her favorite things to 'study' are math and art. She is constantly asking to do addition problems with us, and she recently started working on her math workbook for the summer. She loves to draw, and is so much more creative than I could ever imagine. I've found her several times pausing a movie to draw or write what she sees on the screen, or taking books to look at the pictures and recreate them in her notebook. I have about 5,000 drawings hanging around the house, and our supply of printer paper seems to always be dwindling, but I love watching her be creative.

This is our "YAY! It's graduation" face ;)

Our little graduate.
We can't wait to see where the world takes you sweet girl!

10 months!

10 months!

As you can tell, someone has developed his attitude, and is become a little less than thrilled with our monthly photo shoots.

Standing all the time! He's still wobbly, but he wants to be able to stand and play as much as possible.

Tuck is still loving all his solids; the only things we've really found that he's not a fan of is cucumbers. He loves to eat whatever we are eating, and has been known to pitch a fit when he runs out of food, or I don't provide it fast enough.
I have to go away for 4 days for cheer camp with the team I coach in July, so we've started to slowly wean off one nursing session a day, and go to bottles.

We are so close to having a crawler! He is on his hands and knees rocking back and forth almost constantly. He's moving backwards and can go from a crawling position to sitting, so I know we're in for it any day now.

Dare I say that we're coming to a point of sleeping more than not? We are finally most consistently sleeping through the night than not! Now that school is out, and our schedule is semi regular, I've finally gotten him down to two naps during the day. His typical sleep schedule looks like this:
7:00am Wake up
9:30am 1st nap
1:00pm 2nd nap
6:30-7pm Bedtime

We've been having amazing weather the past couple weeks, so Tuck has been living it up in the pool, at the splash pad, and overall just enjoying spending time outside.

Tuck still loves his mommy more than anyone (which can have it's downsides), with Daddy as a close second. He has really started taking an interest in Hunter this month, although I don't think Hunter fully returns to feelings. I'm excited to see what their relationship grows into as they grow older and are able to really play together.

Happy 10 months little Tuck! I can't believe we are only a couple months away from your 1st birthday!

Hunter is 3!

3 whole years with this sweet little man!

Hunter is our rough and tumble, and yet oh so sweet little man. He is always quick to tell me or Claire how beautiful we look, how much he loves everyone, and is always waving and saying hello to everyone we pass.  He keeps me on my toes more than I could have ever imagined; he's quick to sneak out of the house without shoes on (or pants for that matter), loves to be outside in the dirt, and is constantly eating things off the floor that he shouldn't be, no matter how many times we tell him how disgusting it is. He loves all things trucks, trains, diggers, and race cars. He is loud, and tends to not stop moving until we hit bed time. He has recently come into his 'three-nager' phase, and boy can that kid throw a fit. I didn't know how much fun it would be to be a boy mom, but I am so glad I got the chance to find out. We love you sweet boy!

Always wanting to be outside, rain or shine, but especially in the rain so he can puddle jump!

LOVES swimming! He'll be starting swim lessons this summer so we can ditch the life vest soon!

He loves to copy everything his sister does. His highlight of the week was getting to pack his lunch in his lunch box and eat with sister at school.

Happy Birthday sweet boy! Here's to another year of adventure with you!
