Tuck is 2!

Our little Tucker is 2!
It feels a little crazy that our last baby is 2! I think because he is our last, he often feels like more of a 'baby' to us than the others have at his same age.

Tucker's 2 year well child stats:
Height: 35.75 in (89th percentile)
Weight: 33 lbs 12 ox (96th percentile)

Tucker is our snuggly, yet full of attitude toddler! He can usually be found running after his siblings, desperately trying to do all the same things they are doing. He is sweet and snuggly, and will often come up and squeeze our faces between his hands and give us a slobbery kiss, or come ask to sit in your lap and "nuggle". He has come into his own with his 2 year old attitude lately, and can give you a very fierce "NO!" and pouty face when he is displeased. He keeps us on our toes daily, but brings so much laughter to us as well.

Tuck's language has started to explode in the last month or two. He has started string 2 and sometimes 3 word sentences together, and if he's in the right mood, he'll try to repeat almost anything you ask him too.

Tucker's favorite thing to play with is pretty much anything with wheels! I can almost always find him with a hot wheels car in his hand, pretending to drive it on any surface he can find, so we decided to do a 'Plane's, Train's, and Automobiles' party for him.

Tucker, we love you so much! You were the perfect last piece of our puzzle; one that we didn't even know we were missing! Your giggles, and snuggles can lift any spirit. I can't wait to see the boy you grow up to be. We love you!

Claire is 6!

Claire is 6! I cannot believe that is was 6 years ago that Drew and I became parents for the first time. What a crazy whirlwind it has been!

Height: 51" (>99th percentile)
Weight: 50lbs 3oz (77th percentile)

Claire is our quiet, sweet, crafty girl. She could sit and color, or craft a project all day long; I often find tiny scraps of paper that she cut, or sparkles from a project all over the house. There are constantly pieces of paper and markers strewn about the table. Sometimes it drives me nutty cleaning up all the crafting supplies, but I love seeing her cultivate her artistic side as well.

Claire finished kindergarten this year! It was such a crazy year with her being gone all day at school, and while the adjustment seemed like no big deal for her, it was harder on my mommy heart than I thought it would be. It has been really fun for Drew and I to see her learning so many new things; getting to watch your child learn to read and write is truly amazing. I think almost everyday we could look at each other and say "Did you see that? Did you know she could do that!?"

One thing we didn't anticipate during kindergarten was the addition of her new 'friend' Hunter. She came home one day from school and told me "Hunter and I are getting married because we love each other". Woah! I was thinking I had a few more years, but apparently she's starting early ;)

Claire requested a Moana party this year, and we had a great time with her friends at our house, swimming, decorating sea shells and eating cake!

Claire asked to get her ears pierced for her birthday this year. I was a little nervous about it since Claire and anything slightly painful don't go very well together. The first time we went in we ended up leaving when her nerves got the best of her, but a few days later she told me she was ready. We went in and got them both done at the same time (thank goodness!) and there were no tears shed! A bit of shock when it first happened, but after that she was so happy to have them done!

Sweet Claire, I hope you never change! It's hard sometimes for me to remember to soak up these moments now before they become fewer and farther between. I love that you still want to do things with your daddy and I. You are becoming so grown up and independent, and I love watching you get to spread your wings. I hope you always stay kind to others, hard working and loyal. We love you!

4 years!

The entire summer apparently got away from me, and we are now 4 months past Hunter's 4th birthday, and I am finally getting around to all the birthday and summer posts; yikes!

Hunter's 4 year stats:
Height: 43 in (95th percentile)
Weight: 42 lbs 16 oz (92nd percentile)

Our silly, goofy, crazy boy is 4! He loves riding his strider bike, playing in the dirt, driving his hot wheels cars, and tormenting his siblings.

Hunter "graduated" his first year of preschool in May! He's now onto his second year of preschool!
He's my kid who loves to cook! Even when there isn't cookie dough or frosting involved ;) I can give him a butter knife and some veggies and he will happily stand on a stool and help me prep dinner.

And like most little boys, he has a love for trucks, fire trucks, and police officers! He got to go to Dozer Days with our babysitter for his birthday as her present to him, and he could not stop talking about all the fun trucks he got to see and sit in.

Hunter requested a garbage truck birthday this year. I have to admit I was a little stumped at first; it's not like you can just drive to Party City and find the garbage truck section. Thankfully lots of other mama's on pinterest and etsy also have little boys with the same fascination, so I was able to throw something together. It ended up being a pretty hot day, so we just let all the kids run wild through the sprinkler and play in the pool.

Happy Birthday sweet Hunter! You bring so much joy to our lives with your constant giggles, and 'silly' jokes. We love you!

18 Months!

Holy moly, just like that our Tuck is a year and a half old! How can he possibly be turning two in just 6 short months?

Weight: 31 lbs 7oz (99th percentile)
Height: 33.25" (75th percentile)
Head Circumference: 20.47" (>99th percentile; he still has big ol' noggin!)

Tuck has been letting his feelings show lately, and some of those feelings aren't so great. I feel the terrible two's coming on early with this one. He is fierce in his desire to be just like his siblings, and you better believe if you leave him out, or he doesn't get his way, he will show you his screaming side. It's been tough with cutting molars too; yikes!
He is insistent on wearing his backpack just like his siblings. It can be quite the throw down trying to make him take it off.

On the opposite side of that, if he is in a good mood he is the cutest and silliest little guy you've ever met! He loves to dance, to 'read' books to himself, and eat pretty much anything in sight! I keep waiting for him to become a picky eater like his siblings, and while I'm sure it will happen eventually, he sure has lasted longer than his siblings!

Our poor guy has eczema like you wouldn't believe. It's been an uphill battle, with lots of different approaches in how best to treat and prevent it, but so far nothing is a real winner. He gets his biggest flairs up on his stomach, and then his legs. He doesn't seem to be too bothered by it, but I'm sure it can't be comfortable. We just recently got prescription strength cortisone cream from the doctor; it seems to be helping if we keep on top of it everyday.

In the past few weeks we've notice a few more words here and there that Tucker seems to be mastering. Some are more easily understandable than others, but we have consistently heard "Up, apple, thank you, mama, dada, bubba, sissy, again, cup, and uh-oh". He also signs 'all done', 'more', and 'please'.

He's a bit of a daredevil and climber. I've found him countless times on top of the table or climbing up on a chair to get to something he wants when I turn my back for a split second. He also loves to go fast! He wasn't the biggest fan of playing in the snow, but boy was he happy to be sledding down our very steep driveway. He also conquered numerous inflatable slides at JJ Jump by himself; slides that I felt like I was flying down!

Love you sweet guy!
I can't believe in a few short months we are going to have a 2 year old!

Halloween Fun!

October was cold and rainy, and we ended up not making it to the pumpkin patch until 2 days before Halloween! Both Claire and Hunter had already been to the pumpkin patch with school, so I didn't feel that bad about it ;)

We do a annual bench picture, and of course this was about the best I could get of the three of them...
These two however, were much more obliging with their smiles for their first annual bench picture!

Drew was gone hunting that weekend, but the kids and I got brave and I decided to actually let them carve their pumpkins instead of just painting them. Hunter needed lots of help, but Claire designed and carved hers all on her own.

She told me "It's a unicorn, moon, and stars pumpkin"

Three little cuties on halloween! Lady bug girl (Claire's favorite book right now) an astronaut, and the cutest pirate you have even seen.

Our friends the Stagers came over again this year, and our friends the Pike's got to come too. We had quite the adorable little crew out trick or treating that night! Everyone did so good, and the rain held off, thank goodness!

First Day of School!

This was a big year for us for school!
Claire started kindergarten (full day) and Hunter started 2 day a week preschool!

Everyone told me that kindergarten was hard as a parent, and I naively thought that wouldn't apply to me. Claire had always loved preschool and did very well; she was so excited to start kindergarten and I love seeing her excitement to learn. All this to say, I didn't think I would have much of a hard time letting her go off to kindergarten.

Fast forward to the first day of school....I was a mess! I held it together until after drop off, but holy cow I was an emotional wreck! I couldn't believe I was just leaving my baby to go to school ALL DAY, with people I barely knew!
She came home and was full of excitement about school, and new friends, and her teacher, which helped ease some of my worries, but it still took me a good couple weeks to really feel more at ease with her being gone all day.

Hunter's preschool (the same one Claire attended) starts a week after the rest of the school district, and oh man, let me tell you, that was a rough week for him! Getting to see his sister go off to school everyday while he was stuck at home was hard! Finally the day came and he got to go off to school!
It was a little weird dropping him off at school, but I have to say, it was great to have a little peace and quiet ;) He is loving school and still gets so excited to go every week.

You might not be able to tell by the pictures, but he was a tiny bit excited about it.

My big kids, off to school!

1st Birthday Party: Books!

One of Tuckers favorite things to do is read books; we don't even have to read them, he is just so enthralled with the pictures. He can often be found sitting by himself, happily flipping through board books. He is even more happy to bring us a book and back his little booty up into our laps before he plops down and declares it book time! It seemed like a no brainer to incorporate his love of books into his party!

It took a little while for him to warm up, but man once he did, he gobbled that cake up! He actually ate almost the entire thing; yikes!
A bath was a must after all that cake! A sink bath, and a squeaky clean birthday boy!
Happy Birthday sweet boy!
